      Palliative care is based on the needs of the patient, not on the patient’s prognosis. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness, and it can be provided along with curative treatment.
      A practical way of establishing what support there is within the family. By drawing a genogram with the patient who is terminally ill can determine what support there is or is not within the family.
      The FICA tool involves (faith, importance/influence, community, action/ address)
