Teamwork is an ongoing process of interaction between team members as they work together to provide care to patients. There different types of teams that will provide palliative care for children are usually a multidisciplinary and an interdisciplinary team.

A team work enviroment promotes an atmosphere that encourages collaboration and loyalty. Some of the obstacles to efffective teamwork include the following: lack of trust, role threat, conflict loyalty , following one’s own agenda. healthcare teams are made up of indivisuals who have different skills. The care team are the key people involved in the care of each patient.

The child and family are an integral part of the care team. The continous care of the care team rests in the hands of the family, while the healthcare providers are there to provide care and support along the way.

This is a great summary of what team work entails ….. now if only we could get this to work in our place of work!! WE would definitely have far better patient satisfaction and outcomes!
