Cultural competence is not something that is taught (as far as I remember) we are more likely encouraged to respect peoples differences, thoughts, ideas, rituals and beliefs. I believe that it can be exceptionally difficult sometimes but if we stick to the guidelines taught in this module and always remember that we are part of a team of people that includes patient, parents, extended families and supports as well as the medical team. I hope to be able to bring back what I have learnt to my practice as well as to the hospital in which I work.
