What I have noticed is that many a time, in the hustle and bustle of managing patients, especially paediatric patients in an emergency, a TEWS score is used to assess a patients vitals and triage them according to a colour code, red to green. However sometimes it is difficult to asses a patients pain scale in an acute situation like that, where often analgesia is given but a true scale of pain is never really assessed. I think that in a setting like this it is very important, as most children can’t rate pain from 1 to 10, so I think the scales that we have been taught through this course is perfect to integrate into a setting like this, to try and better understand and manage paediatric patient better…
