I loved this term – impeccable – without fault. I never thought of using this term in addressing an assessment and yet, it does describe a thorough assessment with nothing neglected, the holistic assessment of a patient. I believe that an impeccable assessment can really only be done by a multidisciplinary team. There would never be enough time, or maybe even, enough insight or knowledge or experience that 1 member of the team can fulfil an impeccable assessment. It needs many different eyes, much broader training to fulfil this assessment. That is exactly why all members of the team, the family and the child needs to be involved in a complete assessment. I believe that this is exactly why we need a multidisciplinary team approach to giving the very best treatment to a patient. I really am excited about the various assessment forms that have been provided. The multidisciplinary meetings should be able to ‘open eyes’ of the whole team and give a comprehensive understanding of the patient. This, of course, requires empathetic, careful approach to the family and patient.
