I have found this course to be particularly beneficial on many levels.
Until now, the extent of me asking the Spirituality question on our consult sheet was simply ” What is your religeon’ . If they volunteered anymore, I would so welcome it. I felt very comfortable when they answered Christian as this is my faith. I am comfortable talking about it. As I am working in a Paediatric Palliative Service, I often was communicating with moms. I was able to offer that we pray together. Universally this provided a sense of peace and comfort. Many times the moms would pray in Zulu while I was praying in English, which is so special.
However, I have realised that I have been remiss at not properly engaging about Spirituality with other religeons. I thought I was being respectful by not asking about a religeon I didnt understand. How wrong I was! Yes, it would be good if I had insight into the specific religeon’s practices and beliefs. However I have learned that there are different ways to engage about Spiritual matters that does not need a deep knowledge thereof.
I hope to incorporate what I have learned into my practice.
Thank you!!
