At our hospital we have looked at different ways to break the sterile environment and provide the children with some normality. We have included Therapy Dogs to our program. The kids love interacting with the different dogs which also helps to take their minds off of the stress and trauma.

We also include aqua therapy into our sessions. The kids have the most fun ‘swimming’/’playing’ in a warm pool and also forget about their stress and trauma. The warm water is also beneficial for pain management.

I do wish we could incorporate more music therapy and art therapy.
