It embraces physical, emotional, social and spiritual elements and focuses on the
enhancement of quality of life for the child or young person and support the whole family. It includes the management of distressing symptoms, provision of short breaks, care at the end of life and bereavement support. Palliative care is concerned with the medical, economic needs of patient and their families, providing patient care solutions involving all aspects of the health care and it involves an interdisciplinary team. Four components of palliative care: comprehensive support; management of pain and other symptoms; involvement of families; care on assessed need.
