As an ex listened practical nurse, I worked in the Oncology department in Montreal Children hospital for 5 years.
I left Montreal and went to UAE and studied and works as an Early Years Foundation stage teacher for 7 years.
I came to Seychelles and my 6years old son got sick with DIPG (Brain Tumour) so I stayed home with him and did home schooling. We travelled as a family for his treatments, and he passed away 22 months after diagnosis.
All that to say: Not knowing that I was being equipped the 12 years prior to his sickness. I was able to make him understand what he was going through, through play. Although it was a very difficult time but it made things so much smoother.
After the passing away of Liam-Emmanuel Rangasamy I founded a foundation called Liam’s Rainbow Foundation in the Seychelles.
Our Mission is to support children living with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness emotionally. I want to help them live their life one day at the time and live life to the fullest despite their health condition. I want to help them experience their medical treatment through play and give them the appropriate support ,thus soothe their medical journey.
So far it has been a wonderful journey. Making them blow bubbles whilst having a blood test. I accompany them when they go for a medical appointment and play with them whilst we wait for the doctor. The parents get to relax and wait whilst they enjoy watching their child laugh and play. It has been an amazing adventure thus far. Through play we show them love and support. Bring them joy and happiness. Give them and their parents comfort. It reduces stress and anxiety during their hospital stay.
